Community Guidelines & Vision

Welcome to CardVerse — a community-built Pokémon card discovery engine.

This project was born out of a love for collecting and a need for better ways to explore the art, themes, and quirks of Pokémon cards. But it’s not just a search engine — it’s a shared space built by you, the fans. Community is the core of everything we do.

Here’s what makes this special:

  • Tag cards: Submit creative, descriptive tags that bring each card to life
  • 🧠 Discover together: Use tags to find Pokémon you’ve never seen before
  • 👥 Build collections: Group your favorites, make them public, and browse others
  • 🤝 Connect: Spot collectors with similar tastes, shared themes, or styles
  • 🗳️ Vote & moderate: Help shape what tags stay and which get filtered out

Be respectful. Every user contributes a piece of the bigger picture. Harassment, hate speech, spam, and cheating are not welcome here and may result in a ban.

Be creative. Be generous. Be part of something evolving. When you make an account, you're not just logging in — you're joining a growing Poké-collective built by people like you.

💬 Want to get even more involved? Join our Discord to chat with other collectors, suggest features, report bugs, and help shape the future of CardVerse in real-time.

Tag Submission Guidelines

To keep our tagging system consistent, helpful, and fun, please follow these rules when submitting tags:

✅ What Tags Are:

  • Descriptive of what you see on the card — visual elements, themes, feelings, or style.
  • Can include other Pokémon pictured on the card (e.g., piplup, friends, teamup).
  • Can be subjective (e.g., epic, nostalgic, adorable) as long as it fits the card content.

❌ What Tags Are Not:

  • Tags about the set, release date, or metadata (e.g., base set, 2021, promo) are not allowed.
  • Profanity, slurs, or offensive terms are strictly banned.
  • No brand names, website names, or self-promotion.

✍️ Tag Format Rules:

  • Single word only, unless two words are absolutely necessary.
  • 20 characters max per tag.
  • All lowercase letters only.
  • Use only letters and a few numbers if essential (e.g., 3d is allowed).
  • No punctuation, no emojis, no underscores, no hyphens.
  • English only.

⚠️ Duplicate Prevention:

  • Avoid synonyms or similar tags on the same card: use either cute or adorable, not both.
  • Variants like arm vs. arms — only one is allowed. Use the most relevant version.
  • If a tag already exists on the card, don't re-submit it.

📌 Submission Limit:
You can submit up to 15 tags per card.

What are Tags and Why Use Them?

Tags are short descriptors that capture the visual, thematic, or emotional essence of a card. They help organize and surface cards that share similar traits, making discovery easier and more fun.

For example, if you're searching for cards that feature dragons, rainbows, or sleeping Pokémon, tags make it easy to find them—even if those words don’t appear in the official card text.

Adding helpful, creative tags benefits the whole community and makes the search engine more powerful for everyone!

How Does Tag Moderation Work?

Every tag you submit is reviewed by a moderator before it appears publicly. This helps us ensure that all tags follow the Tag Submission Guidelines.

Moderators review tags for clarity, accuracy, duplicates, profanity, and relevance to the card content. If a tag violates the rules or is too vague (e.g., cool on every card), it may be rejected.

Approved tags appear on the card shortly after review. Rejected tags are silently removed without affecting your account, unless abuse is detected.

What Are Collections and How Do They Work?

Collections let you group and save your favorite cards for easy access and sharing. Each user starts with a default Favorites collection and can create additional ones.

You can:

  • 💾 Add or remove cards from collections
  • 🔒 Make collections public or private
  • 📦 Create custom-named collections (e.g., pink cards, team fire)
  • 🖱️ Reorder cards with drag-and-drop

Collections are visible on your profile if public, and they include a quick preview and share link.

Can I Suggest New Features or Report Bugs?

Absolutely! We’re building this together with the community. You can report issues or suggest new features through any of these channels:

  • 🐛 Bug Report Form: Available in your dashboard or footer links
  • 💬 Discord: Join the community and post in #feature-requests
  • 🔧 GitHub: Submit issues if you're technical

Your input directly shapes the future of the platform!

What Do User Roles Mean? (User, Mod, Admin)
  • User: Can tag cards, create collections, customize profile, and upvote tags
  • Moderator: Can review and approve/reject tag submissions
  • Admin: Full access including managing users, reviewing moderation logs, and analytics

We plan to add a leaderboard and reward system for contributors in future updates!

How Do I Share My Profile or Collection?

Every user profile and collection has a unique link. You can copy the link from your browser or use the share button on the collection page.

Public collections can be viewed by anyone with the link. Private collections are only visible to you.

Sharing tip: some share buttons include a preview image of your collection!
